Why everyone keeps coming back.

Located in the heart of downtown Honolulu at 130 Merchant Street, Starbucks offers more than just your everyday coffee run—it’s a vibrant oasis for coffee lovers and breakfast seekers alike. This Starbucks blends the familiarity of a classic coffee shop with a distinct local twist, making it a standout stop whether you’re starting your day or recharging midday.

At this location, you’ll find the trending Iced Ube Coconut Macchiato, a delightful sensory experience that marries full-bodied espresso with creamy milk and toasted coconut-flavored syrup. Served over ice and topped with a luscious ube coconut cold foam sprinkled with toasted coconut flakes, this drink bursts with sweet, nutty vanilla notes and a vibrant splash of purple that’s as visually appealing as it is delicious. Complementing this is their Toasted Coconut Cream Cold Brew, Starbucks’ signature cold brew coffee finished with a smooth, toasted coconut cold foam that offers a rich, velvety texture and soothing tropical flavor.

The atmosphere here balances a bustling urban energy with a clean, welcoming environment. Regular visitors appreciate the courteous and efficient staff who help maintain a smooth flow even during busy hours. Although there is no restroom on-site, the team’s dedication to service shines through every interaction. Customers like Kyli C. highlight the friendly baristas and the reliable grab-and-go convenience that suits a fast-paced workday lifestyle nearby.

What sets this Starbucks apart is its commitment to sustainability and local preference. Jason Vogel points out their innovative use of compostable iced coffee cups, reflecting a conscientious approach that resonates with environmentally-minded guests. Meanwhile, Brian Pooley appreciates how this location serves the immediate neighborhood, offering quality service and a clean space just steps from home, despite weekend closures.

Whether you’re stopping by for the unique specialty drinks or a familiar caffeine fix, this Starbucks location delivers more than coffee—it provides a personalized, quality experience that blends urban convenience with island charm. It’s a refreshing retreat for both locals and visitors craving top-tier coffee infused with Hawaiian-inspired flavors.

For anyone visiting or working near downtown Honolulu, this Starbucks is a dependable sanctuary to savor exquisite brews, enjoy friendly faces, and feel part of a community. Just be sure to pace your visit accordingly, keeping in mind the lack of restroom facilities, but rest assured the warmth of the team and the quality of the offerings will make your stop worthwhile.

Decent located Starbucks with great service. Very clean shop and the folks there get your order to you pretty quickly. I’m pretty sure my nitro cold brew was the first order of the kind for the day because the nitro/coffee mix was off. I still drank it but it wasn’t quite the quality I was expecting. Still, it’s a good store and that little quirk won’t keep me away.

I am at this location four to five days a week as my office is nearby. The workers are wonderful and always offer great customer service. I usually grab and go, so I don't sit inside and have the concerns that others have noted about WiFi and restrooms. Because of its downtown location there will be times during the week where it is quite busy, but the team really does try to get everyone served in a timely manner. I've personally never waited too long for service at this location. This location is also pretty clean most times in comparison to other Starbucks locations I've been to.

Super convenient as I live down the block. It’s great to have a place to walk to and grab a coffee. Good service and kept nice and clean. Just wish it would be open on weekends but understandable that it wouldn’t be.

5 stars because service was faster than most. They all serve the same thing, and customer service is generally above average. But these guys expedite orders quickly. There's plenty of seating inside and they also have seating outside. It's conveniently located at the corner of Bishop and Merchant in the FPP building.

Every time I visit this location, I’m impressed by how upbeat and kind the employees are. I’m so impressed, I’m actually writing a rare review! The employees are proving coffee and a smile can make even the worst day a little brighter.

My drink tasted very good, but there just wasn't enough of it! Ordered a Venta size drink with light ice, but the cup was 2/3 full of ice, nice ice though. Got about 6-7 sips before it was just all ice. Maybe the baristas could pay a little more attention to the orders. In fairness, after walking back past the store and saying something to the barista he did offer to make another drink, but by then all I wanted was water for my ice.
